Biography Planet Coexist Council

Bonnie Kneller

My journey began in Forest Hills Queens where I grew up in a community of diverse ethnic cultural groups and everyone coexisted and created their own neighborhoods. I thought this was the way it was all over the world being an innocent and naïve young girl. I came to see it was not so.

I encountered prejudice in my first year of college and I became aware that people caused pain, which turned into ignorant prejudice. Growing up during the radically transformative years of the 60?s and 70?s, I was exposed to the inequity and misuse of power to exploit other countries and its people. It became clear to me that my purpose was to help facilitate the bridge between cultures to coexist peacefully and cooperatively to create a better world for our children.

As a mother I feel a sense of responsibility and awareness that the earth is in a state of embalance and humanity must awaken to the interconnectedness of all living beings. I hope to bring this awareness to our community, our children and our leaders through education and social activism.

My passion and talent that I bring to the planet coexist council is my skill in effective compassionate communication and ability to connect and facilitate groups and networks. As a counselor and Diversity Coordinator at a diverse inner city high school, I have access to a public venue to facilitate the education component and offer a facility to host some educational oriented events. I have begun this process by creating a club at my school called Planet Coexist to draw young people to bringing their voice and energy to the cause.
